The following American planning association scholarships awards are awarded by the American planning association foundation to students enrolled in an approved Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) college or university. The American Foundation planning association scholarships awards designed to make the planning profession more diverse and accessible to those of limited means.

American Planning Association Foundation Judith McManus Price Scholarship

Judith McManus Price, a planner for more than 30 years before her death in 2001, was an exceptional woman with extraordinary talents that she freely shared, not only with her family and friends, but also with her community, her colleagues, and her profession. She served the public sector in a variety of planning positions facing challenges with strength and optimism.

American Planning Association

Eligibility: Women or minority (African-American, Hispanic or Native American) undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an approved Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) planning program. Students must be citizens of the United States. This scholarship is awarded annually to students intending to pursue careers as practising planners in the public sector, and are able to prove a genuine financial need. Awards will range between $2,000 and $5,000.

American Planning Association Foundation Charles Abrams Scholarship

Charles Abrams was an internationally recognized authority on housing and urban affairs who died in 1970. Throughout his career, he exhibited an active wish to help students in planning programs. In his honour, the American Planning Association administers a scholarship fund established by his widow and a number of his colleagues.

Eligibility: Graduate students who are enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment at one of the five schools at which Charles Abrams taught (see below): Columbia University, Harvard University, MIT, New School University, or the University of Pennsylvania. Students must be citizens of the United States.

ReadReal Estate Investment Society Students Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded annually to students intending to pursue careers as practising planners and are able to prove a genuine financial need. One award of $2,000 is made. Students must be nominated by the program’s department chair; applications must be submitted through a student’s planning program.
