Acer Nitro 5 laptop comes with the 8th-generation Intel Core processor with Optane memory or AMD Ryzen 5 processor. The laptop offers AMD Ryzen 5 processor with Radeon RX560 graphics Intel Core i5, Core i5+, Core i7, and Core i7+ processors coupled with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or GTX 1050Ti graphics and Optane memory technology. Acer Nitro 5 looks simple and nothing flashy compared to typical gaming laptops. This laptop is something you can carry for work as well, if you don’t mind the weight. The Red colour highlights along with the complete Black body looks good but the thick bezels along with the display is a putoff.

The laptop also comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS screen which produces decent colours and is not reflective. While the display can get really bright, the colours don’t hold well in full brightness. The viewing angles are decent and for casual gaming or first-time buyers, users should not have any complaints at all. However, the laptop’s display quality will not be able to impress pro gamers as they will easily spot some ghosting effect. There is webcam just above the display to offer an HD video output which is very decent for Skype calls. Lets look at the configuration sent to TechRadar for review

Acer Nitro 5 has a chiclet keypad that makes typing and working on a article with a laptop a delight. There is also a dedicated numeric keypad on the right and the WASD keys are highlighted for better gaming experience. As far as the trackpad is concerned, you will have to get used to position first and then think of using it. Though, it is highly advisable that users invest in a good mouse to have a good gaming experience as the trackpad will surely disappoint.

The laptop comes with two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0, one USB Type-C Gen 1, HDMI, card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack and LAN port. There is no CD drive. Acer Nitro 5 comes with Dolby Audio support and audio output is decent for watching videos and movies. Of course, for gaming needs, user will have to opt for good headphones.

Acer Nitro 5 claims 7 hours of battery life, the Nitro 5 easily deliver a bit above four hours of mixed battery time. The 4-cell Li-ion battery takes time to charge. Over the period of 6 months, the battery life saw a slight dip on continuous usage. For l ong gaming sessions, users will have to keep it plugged to the wall socket.

The laptop 1080p display, while still sharp and clear, is a little on the darker side (even at its brightest setting) and is practically the exact opposite of bezel-free. We’ve seen other gaming laptops at this price put a little more focus on the display, which we’d like to see here.
